the day after the storm was not the calm you would have expected. colder than it has been all year. gusts of wind that come out of nowhere when you step onto a new street. my ears still burn. i like to think of myself as a tough cold weather person, someone who would maybe live in maine someday. i wonder if i could...... i watched some families of sleders in the clark park bowl, there was no wind there, but i wondered if any of the parents were worried about frost bite, or if maye they had better clothing than i did. the icicles from the sun in the afternoon, and the heat of the houses going out through the roofs were unbelievable. its still too cold for them to form on the awnings. i walked around my neighborhood a little bit, but soon my hands and nose and ears just hurt too much, and the hot chocolate i carried with me was getting cold, and not much comfort. it is absolutely beautiful out. if it had been still, it would have been the most beautiful calm after a storm.
